  • Palace of the Imam in Wadi Dhar: ASIA, YEMEN, WADI DHAR near SANA, 24.06.201: Majestic and unaffected by the recent turmoil in the country stands the famous Palace of the Iman on a giant rock in Wadi Dhar. Wadi Dhahr is located 14 km to the northwest of Sanaa. In the center of the wadi perches Dar Al-Hajar, Rock Palace, built on top of an enormous rock dating back to 1786 AD, and ordered by Imam Mansour Ali Bin Mehdi Abbas. In the 1930s, Imam Yahya Hameed Al-Din added the upper stories and annexes and used it as a rest house.

Qat is so popular in Yemen that its cultivation consumes much of the country's agricultural resources. It is estimated that 40% of the country's water supply goes towards irrigating it.

During our week in Sanaa and the region we witnessed long queues of cars at every gas station. Many cars were abandoned by their owner who realized that it may take days until new supplies would arrive. Here a long queue of cars waiting for petrol, while a motorbike driver seemed to have found extra supply.

  • Policeman-turned-entrepreneur Josef Kleindienst: ASIA, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES, EMIRATE DUBAI, DUBAI, 17.03.2010. Mr. Kleindienst is the owner the Kleindienst Group, a Dubai-based real-estate company. In 2007 Kleindienst Properties acquired six of the total 300 islands as part of the highly prestigious Nakheel Project "The World". They went on to create "The Heart of Europe" a holiday and leisure paradise along the coast of Dubai. A unique complex, made up of luxury hotels, designer villas, holiday apartments and shops. Mr. Kleindienst on a boat departing from Germany on The World complex. Construction on Germany has not started yet, but Mr. Kleindienst claims that 11 out of 20 planned villas have so far been sold. The World can only be reached by boat.

Mr. Haroun's services are now in high demand in the Emirate, among other projects he is presenting the authorities a security strategy for the new Terminal 3 of Dubai International Airport.
